I was probably around six years old and visiting my grandfather's office. He had a couple of statues that were titled with "Old Grouch", which was his nickname from co-workers.
I remember
asking who "Old Grouch" was and he said, "I am". I then asked him if I could be grouchy. All downhill from there.
